CAMPORESE | CAMPORESI

Camporese seems specific of the Paduan area, with a very small stock in Sanza in the Salerno area that should derive from the toponym Campora (SA) and an even smaller one in Naples that should derive from Campora di Agerola (NA), Camporesi is typical of the Forlì and Ravenna, all these northern strains derive from a nickname originated from the word campus (agricultural land), whose plural is campora and would indicate a peasant origin. Traces of this surname are already in the 1500s, in Rome we find a Pietro Camporesi from Forlì Architect of Pope Clement XIII °; in the memoirs of Clemente XIII's chirograph we read: "with the least possible expense, with the intervention and recognition also of Pietro Camporesi Architect".
