CARRUBA | CARRUBBA

Caruba, very rare, is typical of Nisseno and is probably due to errors in transcription of the Carrubba surname which is very present throughout southern Sicily, in the Syracuse area in particular, obviously deriving from nicknames originated from the fruit of the carob tree in turn derived from the word Arabic charrub.
