Cogodi, absolutely rare, is typically Sardinian from Cagliari, from Pimentel, Senorbì and Mandas, it could derive from a Sardinian dialect nickname for small pullet. additions provided by Giuseppe Concas COGODI: cogòdi is a synonym of cugùdula and therefore of cugudda (see the surname Cugudda). In the Sardinian botanical dictionary of Peppino Congia, Ed. Zonza, with the name cugùdula there is the "trinciatela" (hyoseris radiata) and the thistle (cynara cardunculus). We have clarified, in the analysis of the surname Cugudda, that, in the case of cynara cardunculus, to which we have added silvestris, we can go back to the Latin cucutia = wild artichoke = sa cugùtzua in Campidanese. Currently the surname Cogodi is present in 20 Italian Municipalities, of which 13 in Sardinia: Pimentel 6, Senorbì 6, Mandas 5, etc.
