CROPI | CRUPI

Cropi is practically unique, it should be a transcription error of the more common Crupi which is typical of southern Calabria and eastern Sicily, of the area of the strait in particular, it could derive from a nickname originated from the Greek word kouroupes (shorn, shaved), but it is also possible that it may derive from a nickname originated from the Sicilian word crupu (manure) derived from the Greek word ?????? (excrement), perhaps indicating the profession of the progenitor.
