CADENAZZI | CADENAZZO | CAENAZZO

Cadenazzi is very rare and it would seem specific to the Como area, Cadenazzo is practically unique, Caenazzo, very rare, typical of Venice, should derive from the Venetian dialect word caenazzo (catenaccio), so much so that in the coat of arms of which we have traces since 1600 we see two crossed bolt irons. There are traces of the surname Caenazzo or Cadenazzo, since 1450 when we find an "... Piero Cadenazzo quidem Domenico sartor from Venice ...", in Rovinj, in Istria, there is an inscription, in the church of St. Joseph, which he says: "JO CAPITAN ISEPPO CAENAZZO MADE FOR MY DEVOTION ANO 1673".
