Etymological origin of Italian surname: Caiffa

Very very rare it seems typical of Gallipoli, it should be of Arabic origin could derive from the term Kalifa (powerful man, equivalent of one of our feudatory) but more probably it derives from the Palestinian toponym Caiffa (today's Haifa in Israel) Christian fortress at the time of the Crusaders razed to the ground in 1191 by Saladin.
