Calipari, quite rare, is specific of the Reggio area, in particular of Caulonia, Varapodio and Santa Cristina d'Aspromonte, Callipari, equally rare, specific also of the Reggio area, of Careri, Locri and Bovalino, should be derived from a Greek nickname kalè pareia with the meaning of beautiful cheek, but it is also possible a derivation from the name of the nymph Pareia, always with the addition of the adjective kalè (beautiful) and in this case it would be a matronymic.
