CALZAFERRI

Calzaferri is typically Lombard, of the upper Bergamo area, of Clusone in particular, and of the upper Brescia area, above all of Malonno; of the progenitor, who probably produced knitwear: a kind of tunic made up of many, small rings of iron densely connected to each other, used by the armed forces in the Middle Ages as a first defense, while protecting the body from blows by cutting weapons, the area between the upper part of Bergamo and Brescia, rich in iron and forge minerals, in the past it specialized in the military production of weapons and armor.
