CROGNALE

Specific to the area of Castel Frentano and Lanciano (CH), it should derive from the local term crognale (corniolo), Crognale is also the name of an ancient Contrada of Lanciano from which it is also possible that someone may have derived the surname. Baronial house dating back to at least the 12th century in 1500 was a feudatory of the territories of Arielli (CH) and Poggiofiorito (CH).
