Last name of the island of Malta, it derives from the Hebrew identifier of the sixth month of the Hebrew calendar (the twelve lunar-lunar months of the Hebrew calendar (Nisan, Yaar, Sivan, Tamuz, Av, Ellul, Tishrei, Cheshvan, Chislev, Tevet, Shvat, Adar), is the month preceding the most important festivities, the first traces of this surname date back to the second half of the 1400s, when a Jewish refugee landed in Malta, perhaps coming from Asia Minor.
