FERRAZZA | FERRAZZI | FERRAZZO

Ferrazza is typical of Rpoma and Aquila, Ferrazzi, typical of the north, has a stock also in Rome, probably due to modifications of the more common Ferrazza, Ferrazzo, in addition to the Venetian stock in Eraclea, Campo San Martino and Iesolo, it has an autonomous one in the Crotone to Mesoraca and one probably secondary to Rombiolo (VV), they could derive from toponyms such as Ferrazza (VI) or Ferrazze (VR), or from nicknames originating from localities or professions, traces of these surnames can be found in Foza (VI) in the second half of the 1400s with the notary B.Ferrazzi of Valstagna (VI), and in the second half of the 1500 with the notary Battista Ferrazzi. additions provided by Stefano Ferrazzi Ferrazza has its epicenter in the Roman dialect but also has secondary nuclei in the Caserta area, in the area of L'Aquila and between the north and north central areas of the country, Ferrazzi is more typically Lazio and Lombardy-Veneto, with major stocks in the Roman, in the Varese area, in the Milan area, in the Vicenza area and in the Ferrara area, Ferrazzo has two main nucleuses, one in Veneto, mostly in the Venetian area, and the other in Calabria, between the Crotone and, to a lesser extent, the Vibonese, all these surnames they originate from the medieval name Ferrazzo, an augmentative variant of the more common Ferro, which, despite its clear literal meaning, actually lends itself to an ambiguous interpretation (for a more detailed explanation of the origin of the name, see the surname Ferro); in some cases, however, it is not possible to exclude a derivation from a nickname or a trade (also for this reference to the last name Ferro). In conclusion, therefore, the surnames Ferrazza, Ferrazzi and Ferrazzo derive more often from the surnames of the personal names of the founders, even if in some cases it is not excluded a derivation from nicknames or trade names.
