Folchi, quite rare, has a Ferrarese and a Roman stock, Folchini seems to be from Milan, Folco has a stock in western Piedmont, one in Savona, one in Vicenza and one in Lazio, Fulchini is specific of Irpinia, of Gesualdo (AV) in particular, these surnames all derive, directly or through hypocorisms, from the medieval name of Germanic origin Folcus a variation of the more ancient Fulcus (see Fulco), with this name we remember Folco I ° (+1128) Marquis d´Este.
