LA | LATARGIA | TARGIA

Latargia, practically unique, should be the result of a mistaken transcription of La Targia, which is from Palermo, Villabate, Palermo and Ficarazzi, Targia is specific to Palermo, should indicate the origin of the founders from a place called Targia, as for example is called a fraction of Syracuse, but La Targia is also the ancient name of a narrow passage between the mountains that surround Palermo, in the Sicilian etymological Vocabulary of the abbot Michele Pasqualino of 1790 we read: "... Targia nomen loci seu viae inter Montes iuxta ... Arabice taragia et per sincopen targia est abscondere, et targia est locus leonum procedens ab eadem root taragia abscondere ... ", step that is probably the place of origin of the founders.
