Letter has a stock in the Caserta area, especially in Sant'Arpino, with presences also in Gricignano d'Aversa and Orta di Atella, and in Naples in Naples, Frattaminore, Frattamaggiore, Grumo Nevano, Casoria and Caivano, and some presence also in Cosenza, it could derive from an archaic nickname used to indicate in the founders of the literati, but according to another hypothesis it would instead be the Italianization of the French surname Letour, indicating the children abandoned in the wheel of the exposed.
