LICANDRI | LICANDRO

Licandri is specific of the Catania area, of PaternĂ² and Belpasso, Licandro is typically Sicilian, of San Pietro Clarenza, Catania and Mascalucia in the Catania area, of Messina and of Palermo, with a stock also in the Reggio area, according to some derives from a nickname originating from the Greek terms lykos (wolf) and andras (man), with the meaning of werewolf or wolf man, but, most probably, it derives from a dialectal modification of the name Nicandro (see NICANDRI).
