LOCCHI | LOCCO

Locchi has a stock in Florence and in Florence, one in Perugia, Città di Castello, Magione and Umbertide in Perugia and one in Rome, Locco, very rare, typical of the Cosenza area, of Bisignano in particular, could derive from an apheretic form usual of the term allocco (sort of nocturnal bird), used as a nickname to indicate a particular clumsiness, or even as a name in medieval times, less probable, but still possible a derivation from the archaic term locco (dense syrup to the licorice that was prescribed to throat sufferers).
