LOREO | LORIO

Loreo is almost unique, it could be Piedmontese, Lorio, extremely rare, has a stock in eastern Piedmont and one in Lecce, the Friulian stock seems to have disappeared, they could derive from a distortion of the Latin nomen Laurus or the medieval name Lauretus, we remember a Lauretus Magister Iustitiarius in Puglia in the 1500s, it is also likely a derivation from the apheresis of the late Latin name Ilarius remember the Pope with this name whose pontificate lasted from 461 to 468.
