Etymological origin of Italian surname: Mosco

MOSCO

Mosco is specific to the Venetian, to Campolongo Maggiore, Venice and Campagna Lupia, with a Roman lineage probably due to Venetian emigration on the occasion of the Pontina reclamation, it should derive from a dialectal nickname attributed to the founder, based on the archaic Venetian word mosco (moscone, but also flirtatious dandy).
