Musino is specific to Sorso in the Sassari area, with a small stock also in Carbonia and one in Rome, Musinu, typically Sardinian, with a stock in Oristano, Terralba and Santa Giusta in the Oristano area and a small one in Thiesi in the Sassari area, Musiu, has a stock in Cagliari, in Settimo San Pietro, Sestu, Cagliari, Selargius, Uta, Decimomannu and Muravera, one in Cabras in the Oristano area and one in San Gavino Monreale and Serrenti in the Medio Campidano. additions provided by Giuseppe Concas MUSINO; Musinu; MUSIO; MUSIU: musîo and musîu (nasal î; phonetic variants: therefore the pronunciation is musino e musinu). But we don't know for sure what musino / u means, nor where it comes from. It does not mean snout or its derivative, because snout in Sardinian is murru or bruncu; however in some parts of the Campidano to define a person "musona", always sullen, we use the term "musino / u" (from Italian or from lat. musus), instead of the Sardinian "brùncu".
