Nuccelli, very very rare, would seem to be from the Marche region, probably from Macerata, Nucci is typical of central Italy, with possible strains also in the Taranto and Cosenza areas, Nuccini, absolutely rare, is specific to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Ligonchio in particular in the Reggio area and San Roman in Garfagnana in Lucca, Nuccio seems to have three stocks, in Palermo, Messina and the Salento peninsula, all derive, directly or through hypocorisms, from the Italian Lombard name Nuccio or from apheresis of medieval hypocoristic names such as Rinuccio, Antonuccio, etc.
