Ottolenghi has various small strains scattered here and there in the centronord, in Turin, Genoa, Milan, Venice, Perugia and Rome, Ottolengo is practically unique, according to some they would derive from the toponym Odalengo in the Alessandria area, but instead should be families of Jewish origin Ashkenazite from the German city of Ettlingen near Karlsruhe, from which they drew their Italian surname into Ottolenghi, traces of this surname can be found in 1500 in Lombardy with Rabbi Joseph Ottolenghi with flourishing banking and typographic activities, so much so that, when in Cremona in 1559 the inquisition seized many crates containing copies of the Talmud, most of them came from his own typography.
