PANIS | PANISI | PANIZ | PANIZZA

Panis is almost unique, Panisi is specific to Reggio, Reggio Emilia, Luzzara, Reggiolo, Fabbrico, Guastalla and Correggio, Paniz, very rare and typical of the area of Santa Giustina (BL), Panizza has a Trentino stock, but is also present in the rest of the north, they should derive from nicknames originated from the dialect word panis, or paniz (panic, a type of grass that is shined like rice), panizza in Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto is still today called a soup made with the paniz, traces of these surnames we find in Bianzone (SO) in a note of 1685 on a Register of Works, where a payment is quoted to the master builder Stefano Panizza who lives in Ponte in Valtellina.
