Perrucci, typically Pugliese, of Manduria, Sna Giorgio Ionico and Taranto in the Taranto area, of Altamura in the Bari area, Di Mesagne, Oria, Brindisi and Erchie in the Brindisi area and of Cerignola in the Foggia area, has a stock also in the Theatine in Villamagna, Montazzoli, Bucchianico and Ripa Teatina, and one in the Neapolitan in Naples and Pozzuoli, Perruccio, much less widespread, has a stock in Ugento in Lecce and Torchiarolo in Brindisi, one small in Crotone and one in Syracuse, should derive from the medieval name Perruccio, of which we have an example with Perruccio Sarriano, cited as a beneficiary in the will of Matteo Sclafani of 6 September 1354, a hypocoristic form of the name Petrus.
