Pilat has a stock in the Treviso, Belluno and Pordenone areas, in particular in Follina, Miane, Tarzo in the Treviso, Pordenone and Belluno, and one from Trieste, Pilati has a nucleus in the area that includes Brescia, Trentino and Vicenza, especially in the Tassullo area (TN) and Lavis (TN), a Bolognese and one from Trapani, Pilato is typical of the south with a main nucleus in Sicily, an important one in Bisceglie (BA), Andria (BA) and in Ischia (NA) and a non-secondary one in Guardavalle (CZ), they should derive, directly or through dialectal truncations, from the Latin cognomen Pilatus brought for example by the famous Pontius Pilate who condemned Jesus Christ. We find traces of these surnames in the Trentino region with Carlo Antonio Pilati
