PINTALDI | PINTAUDI | PINTAUTI

Pintaldi is Sicilian, of Noto and Syracuse in the Syracuse area, of Palermo and Catania, Pintaudi is a typical surname of Messina, in particular of Sant 'Angelo di Brolo, Brolo, Acquedolci, Piraino and Messina, Pintauti, practically unique, is probably due to an error of transcription of the previous one, they could derive from a modification of the Latin cognomen Pinta, but much more probably they derive from nicknames originated from medieval terms of Spanish origin as pintardo (maldipinto) or, less probably, from names of places, stating to indicate the origin from steep areas, such as the French Pendaries or Pendarios.
