PRETA

Very very rare, it has a strain in the Chietino border with Molise and one in Cagliaritano, but with possible autochthonous strains also in the Avellinese, should derive from a name of locality linked to the medieval word preta (stone), such as Preta of Caposele (AV ) or Preta di Pizzoferrato (CH) or Preta di Villamagna (CH): ".. Locality Lu Planu de la Preta... ". Traces of this cognitive knowledge we find in Vasto (CH) at least from 1700 with the Magistrate Giovanni Leonardo Preta.
