QUATELA

Specific of Corato in the Bari, should derive from the medieval Latin name Quateus of which we have an example of use in 1400 in Puglia. Additions provided by Alessandro Quatela from my researches at the ecclesiastical archives of Corato I discovered that the surname Quatela is the result of a series of variations ranging from the original quatheist of 1591 to Quatino, Quatelo and finally Quatela.
