SANTOMERO

Santomero is typically Abruzzese, very very rare, it would seem specific of Rocca San Giovanni and Mozzagrogna in the Teatino, should derive from the name of Sant'Omero, a land of the Teramano, very florid in Roman times, which during the late Middle Ages underwent, as the whole Abruzzo's Adriatic coast, multiple attacks by the Turkish pirates and Saracens, so much so as to convince many inhabitants to emigrate to more defended locations.
