SCARAFIA

Scarafia would seem Piedmontese, of Turin in particular, of Torino, Villafranca Piemonte, Pinerolo and Vigone, with a small strain also in Arezzo, should derive from a nickname originated from the Germanic medieval term A.A.T. scarfia, which means Shell, peel, skin, perhaps to characterize a physical aspect of the ancestor. (See also SCARAFIOTTI)
