Veltre has a nucleus in the Caserta a Pastorano, Pignataro Maggiore and Capua, with a strain also in Sant'Angelo a Cupolo (BN), Veltri is typical of the Cosentino, of Amantea, Belmonte Calabro, San Giovanni in Fiore and Cosenza, Veltro is typical of the Beneventano, of Benevento and Castelpoto in particular, Veltroni, typical Tuscan, Dell'aretino, seems originating in Monte San Savino (AR), should derive from the medieval name Veltro of which we have an example in the Annales Pisani in the year 1166: "... Exceptis Gerardo de Vallechia Nobili milite, here in FIDE stetit et Pisas and Uxore et Filiis et familia venit habitare, P. Corso et filiis Veltri, et quibusdam de Garfagnana.... " And in Garfagnana in an act of 1266: "... In Orto Vinciguerrae quondam domains Veltri olim de Castello Aghinolfi... ", name that originates from the Veltro, very elegant and fast hunting dog similar to the greyhound, specialized in hunting for bears and wild boar, then name omen of elegance, strength and Bravery.
