They are all Altoaltesini names typical of the province of Bolzano, Zangerle has a small strain in Lasa, Zengerle is now virtually unique, Zingerle, the most widespread, is well present in Rasun Anterselva, Rio di Pusteria, San Martino in Badia, Bruneck, Bressanone and throughout The province. Integrations provided by Giovanni Vezzelli Zingerle is a surname still quite frequent in Südtirol (South Tyrol). Less widespread are its variants Zengerle, Zangerle. As for the origin of the surname, the scholar Karl Finsterwalder, author of the Repertoire "Tiroler Namenskunde", pagg. 542, 543, it does derive from the word novel Cingaro = Gypsy, the equivalent of the German Zigeuner (Gypsy), for the color of the hair and the dark complexion of the components originating in the family Zingerle/Zengerle, which around 1600 had ramifications throughout the Tyrol, Südtirol and Vorarlberg.
