ZONIN | ZONINI | ZONINO

Zonin is typically Venetian, of Gambellara, Lonigo and Arzignano in the Vicenza area and of San Bonifacio in the Verona area, Zonini is practically unique, as is Zonino, the origin of these surnames seems to be from a contracted hypocoristic form of the Venetian dialect word zovin (young) , according to another hypothesis they could instead derive from a contracted dialectal form of a diminutive of the name Giovanni, which would first become Zovàni and then Zoni, and in its hypocoristic form Zonin.
