Bersan is specific to the Verona area, Bersani is typical of northern Italy with its epicenter in Emilia and in the south of Lombardy, Bersano is decidedly Piedmontese, deriving from the medieval name Bersanus of which we have an example in the Brescia Diplomatic Code in a Cartula Venditionis dated 15 March 1198 in Nuvolento (BS): "... Signum + manum testium ibi fuerunt Bersanus conversus and Iohannes Verone, Leonardus atque Truckellus de Cuncis testes rogati ...".
