Conversi, quite rare it may originate from Parmesan, Converso seems to have more stocks in the Cosenza area, Naples and Bari, one in the border area between the provinces of Venice and Rovigo, deriving from the medieval term, also used as name, conversus (converted ) which initially indicated who had chosen the monastic life in adulthood, but, after the tenth century, stood for the non-ordained religious priest and person in charge of manual work. The use of the term is cited for example in this letter of 1333 written in Florence: "... Frater Iohannes Conversus Strilius Olim Bracchetti de Campi fuit morum matured nec non et precipua honestate prepoIlens. Hic effectus est in bonus order carpentarius et índustrius in buildingsis construendis .... ". Traces of this surname are found in Bologna since the end of the 1200s with a certain Giacomo Conversi.
