The founder of this noble slave was Childerico Bavaro, captain of daring valour, to whom Alfonso, king of the Longobards, donated the land of Regenta, today called Argenta, with its castle in the year of the Lord 752. The family moved to Ferrara in 1107, where it deserved the favor of the illustrious Estense, who distinguished it with honors, privileges and signs of trust.
