The names of the Bergantino are remembered in texts, notarial deeds and contracts for the sale of lands and houses since very remote times, from which it appears that they were in a wealthy and noble condition. We have an example of this in the bibliography "Arcadian Journal of Sciences, Letters, and the Arts", printed in Rome in 1853, at Volume 133, p. 345, we read of a Bergantino, who lived in Rome in the 6th century, mentioned as an illustrious man and Count of heritage.
