Per fesse azure and or, in the first a star of six points or, in the second a pale gules.
Ancient and noble family from Cividale, nowadays Italian town in the province of Udine, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but once domain of the Venetian Republic, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The family was declared noble in the sixteenth century but it has been known since the thirteenth century. The origin of this surname should be sought in a dialect modification of the name "Candidus", probably belonged to the forefather. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. The tincture azure ("light blue") symbolizes water, the continuity of life, it is a colour of nobility, beauty, chastity and fidelity; the tincture or ("gold") refers to the most noble metal and it is symbol of generosity and elevation of the mind; the star is used in heraldry to symbolize safe driving or aspiration to higher things; the pale is considered as one of the honourable ordinaries and may occupy one third of the width of the shield; the tincture gules ("red") is symbol of strength and power but also fervent love for God. Not many families, even among the oldest, can boast a so valuable noble origin, the descendants of which, quite rightly, can be proud.
