Ancient subalpine family, of clear and ancestral virtue, born from the union, by marriage, of two famous and historical families. The first, or rather those of the Cavaglia or Cavaglià, is an ancient noble family of the Counts of Cavaglià, divided into numerous lineages, which is decorated with the titles of: Counts of Cavaglià; lords of Alice, Andorno and Bioglio, Caresana, Casanova, Frassineto, Montosolo, Roppolo, Ticineto, Valmacca; consignors of Borgaro Torinese. The medieval scholar Ferdinando Gabotto derives this family from Count Aimone of Vercelli (formerly + 987). The members of this illustrious family, in 1173 declared themselves vassals of the bishop of Vercelli and were certainly involved in the conflict between the Municipalities of Vercelli and Ivrea, which lasted from 1221 to 1231, and probably sided with Ivrea.
