Very ancient and noble family originally from Piacenza which spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. Cognomination, prior to the 16th century, should be a patronymy derived from the hypochoristic variation of the name Giacomo. This lineage obtained for merit acquired in the public offices by Carlo Emanuele III, king of Sardinia, with a license letter dated 9 October 1748 in the person of Giambattista and in the male and female descendants the nobility of the city of Piacenza. The Duke of Parma, D. Ferdinando di Borbone, with a diploma dated 15 August 1769, granted the title of count to said Giambattista and male descendants. This was the fatherly ancestor of Luigi Giambattista Minister of the Interior of the Kingdom of Italy, who married the Countess Teresa Marazzani Valtidone and nobles of Piacenza.
