Ancient Spanish family, as reported by Vidal and Jerónimo de Villa oriunda from the Guipúzcoa region, originally called Isaia, which spread over the centuries, firstly on Sicilian soil, following the Aragonese kings, and, subsequently, in the distant Americas where, probably due to transcription errors in the registry, the surname was changed to Isais. The first references to the family are at the time of Don Lope Diaz de Haro's campaign against Sancho el Fuerte of Navarre; some Isais, in fact, appear as knights already in that era. As for the passage of the family to Sicily, however, it is believed that it occurred around the fifteenth century, following the Aragonese kings.
