Venetian family, born from Spain, of ancient and noble tradition, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of northern Italy. Originally from Vizcaya, the oldest references are to a Pedro González Macente who at the end of the 16th century married a daughter of Pedro I Roy de Lezama and doña Elvira de Muñatones. A Pedro II Gonzàles Macente Muñatones passed into Venice in the early 17th century following the marquis Alfonso de la Cueva-Benavides y Mendoza-Carrillo. In 1618, after the events of the conspiracy of Venice, the Marquis was repatriated and the Macente moved away from Venice and settled in another Venetian city, probably Treviso or Padua.
