Ancient lineage of Chieri, called Mazzetti or, more ancient Macetto or Mazzetto, first established in Asti with a Nicoletto and Domenico Mazzetti, who bought some properties from the Turco family, and, at the end of the 16th century, in Rome. The first vestiges left by the family are found in a document from 1263, where a "Giacomo de Macetto" from Chieri is mentioned. In their hometown they practiced the profession of merchants and lenders. At the end of the thirteenth century, a branch of the family moved to reside in Bresse, where we find a certain Giacomo, as judge of the dotalizie lands of Bianca di Borgogna.
