Very ancient family, originally from Germany, called Onigo or Oniga, whose progenitor, militating under the emperor's banner, came to Italy. The descendants settled in Treviso, where they are associated with that noble council, since 1460. From a remote time this family was awarded the title of Count, probably by concession of the Emperors; title that was recognized by the Venetian Republic, with ducal 12 February 1795. The family then had, by way of Feud, the mountains of Fosserenga and Miesna, in the Valla di Primiero in Tyrol, by investing force, obtained by SM l ' Emperor Francis, on 9 October 1792.
