Ancient Piedmontese family, of clear and ancestral virtue, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. The origin of this cognomination, to say the least of illustrious genealogists, should be sought in an altered form, probable result of an erroneous handwritten tradition, of the Spanish name "Velasco", which probably belonged to a now unknown progenitor. This family was probably decorated with the knighthood following the virtuous and courageous participation of a Saverio ZELASCHI, under the banners of the "Conte Rosso", or Amedeo VII, to conquer, in 1388 Amedeo VII, an outlet to the sea with Nice, one of the cornerstones of power of the Savoy House in Piedmont.
