ARISCI | ARIXI

Arisci, quite rare, is typical of Villasor (CA), with a strain, probably secondary, in Cagliari, Arixi, very very rare is specific of Cagliari, should derive from the toponym Arixi, fraction of Senorbì (CA). additions provided by Giuseppe Concas ARISCI; ARIXI: alice (fish sauce) or even anchovy; from the Latin halecis. Arìxi is the name of two inhabited centers (town - villa - bidda) of Trexenta. Arìxi Magno (disappeared), also known as Santa Lucia, located between the current town of Arixi and Senorbì. It belonged to the Curadorìa of Trexenta, in the Giudicato Kingdom of Cagliari; even then bordering the villa of Arìxi (current). It was probably abandoned during the 13th century. Arìxi Piccìa (= small Arixi -): it currently has 500 inhabitants, 2 kilometers from Senorbì, in the province of Cagliari. The main festival of the village has remained since antiquity the one in honor of Saint Lucia (15 August and 13 December), whose church is located on the hill of the same name, on whose slopes stood precisely Arixi Magno. The surnames Arisci and Arixi could derive from these two inhabited centers of the Trexenta, of which the first, as aforesaid, disappeared. We find the surname among the signatories of the Peace of Eleonora, * LPDE, of 1388, but in the Arìgi exit: Arigi (de) Geminiano, canon Arborensi; Arigi Leonardus, Sasseri villas. The name of the inhabited center appears in the text of the Fara (Ioannis Francisci Farae - in Sardiniam Chorographiam -). "Flumen Caralis oritur ex Badiepiscopi agro et decurrit for Regionm Gerrei iuxta oppidum Sisini et for curatoria region Trexentae iuxta oppidum Arixi, ubi.". In the history we remember Arixi Geminiano, canon of the Cathedral of Oristano and then bishop, in 1400, of the Diocese, today disappeared, of Santa Giusta. Currently Arisci is present in 38 Italian Municipalities, of which 19 in Sardinia: Villasor 58, Cagliari 27, Carbonia 22, Serramanna 12, San Sperate 9, Iglesias 8, etc. The surname Arixi is present in 12 Italian Municipalities, of which 8 in Sardinia: San Gavino Monreale 11, Villasor 9, Cagliari 8, Villacidro 6, etc.
