Alte und sehr edle Familie des Königreichs Neapel, von klarer und angestammter Tugend, die sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens verbreitete. Es wurde im sechzehnten Jahrhundert edel gegründet, insbesondere mit einem Diplom vom 9. Dezember 1586 von König Philipp II. Von Spanien, das Giovan Leonardo Mascia verliehen wurde. In den Jahren 1847 und 1853 wurde diese Familie dann in die Königlichen Leibwächter aufgenommen und von der Königlichen Kommission der Adelstitel der beiden Sizilien (1834-1860) als großzügiger Adel anerkannt. Es besaß auch zahlreiche Ländereien und sehr wertvolle Adelspaläste, darunter den Palazzo Mascia in Montefusco und den Palazzo Mascia in San Severo. Der klare Adel dieser Familie wird auch durch ihre Präsenz in dem grundlegenden heraldischen Werk "Das historisch-blasonische Wörterbuch der ausgestorbenen und blühenden italienischen Adels- und Adelsfamilien" des Historikers, Genealogen und Heraldikers Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (Fermo, 19 , 1819 - Pisa, 8.
