Conosciuta inizialmente come Hermogida, poi divenuto Armogida o Ermogida, essa principale residenza in Calabria Ultra e, precisamente, nella città di Catanzaro ove risulta tra le antiche e nobili già nel 1639, quando fiorivano Filippo Hermogida, con tutta la sua discendenza, fu confermato nella sua avita nobiltà. Questa casata è infatti di ancora più antica origine poiché nel 1516 fioriva in Squillace (Catanzaro) il maestro massone Antonio Hermogida mentre nel 1569 fioriva in Gioiosa Ionica la nobildonna Diana Hermogida, moglie del nobile Consalvo Linares.
