En 1470 (1er janvier), Marco et Leonello Pio, seigneurs de Carpi, a remis à Antonio di Paolo Bagassi un diplôme avec lequel la "Castellania" a été accordée à sa famille, qui était une sorte de citoyenneté plus élevée et plus distincte que celle accordée sinon aux personnes de mérite et de confiance des Princes. Au cours des XVIe-XVIIIe siècles, les membres de cette famille occupaient les fonctions principales de la ville, c'est-à-dire de prieurs, d'ouvriers temporaires et de massari généraux. Au début du XVIIe siècle, une branche s'installe à Mantoue où elle se rapporte à la famille noble et riche Souvenance et en mars 1674 elle est ornée par le duc de Mantoue du titre de comte qui peut être transmis aux descendants en la personne de Giacinto qui prend le nom de famille Rememberati. Des écrivains et des poètes distingués, des médecins et des juristes ont donné à leur patrie à tout moment. On ne retiendra que Girolamo (1549-1598), prévôt de la cathédrale de Carpi, savant dans les langues orientales, prêtre méritoire et pieux, fondateur à Carpi d'un internat féminin aujourd'hui appelé « Orphelinat Zitelle del Soccorso » ; un autre Girolamo (1650-1707), également prêtre, homme de lettres et poète, ... ...
