Nobility crown FranzoniSehr alte genuesische Familie von klarer und überlieferter Tugend aus der heutigen italienischen Schweiz, die zuerst nach Rapallo und ab dem 15. Jahrhundert nach Genua zog, wo er von Kaiser Karl V. den Titel eines Marquis erhielt. Von Bartolomeo d'Antonio, also von 1370 bis zur Dekadenz der Republik, nahm diese Familie an der Regierung des Staates teil. Acht seiner Mitglieder waren Staatsanwälte, zwölf Senatoren und einer, Matteo, saß auf dem Thron der Dogen. Er gab der Kirche auch zwei Kardinäle und einen Erzbischof. Die Franzoni zählen 1528 ebenfalls zu den Adelsfamilien und werden zu zwei der 28 Adelshotels zusammengefasst, die durch die Reformation von Andrea Doria gegründet wurden, nämlich dem der Familie Spinola und dem des Interiano.
