Nobility crown FranzoniVery ancient Genoese family, of clear and ancestral virtue, from present-day Italian Switzerland, who first moved to Rapallo and, from the fifteenth century, to Genoa, where, by Emperor Charles V, he had the title of Marquis. From the time of Bartolomeo d'Antonio, that is from 1370 until the decadence of the republic, this family took part in the government of the state. Eight of its members were procurators, twelve senators and one, Matteo, sat on the throne of the doges. He also gave the church two cardinals and an archbishop. The Franzoni are also counted among the noble families in 1528, and are aggregated to two of the 28 noble hotels established by the Reformation of Andrea Doria, namely that of the Spinola family and that of the Interiano.
